Sell your shop or mixed-use property

Selling a shop, retail unit or building with flats above? Tell us what is included, who occupies each part and whether you own the whole building.

We introduce commercial property owners to potential buyers.

The shop and any upper floors

We accept enquiries about individual shops, small parades and mixed commercial and residential buildings. Say whether you own the whole building or just one unit.

Describe any flats, offices, storage, yard or unused floors included in the sale. If parts are separately owned or let, explain that too. Your solicitor can confirm the title and rights shown in the property records.

Information that helps

  • Which parts are let, vacant or used by your business.
  • Separate entrances, shared stairs and rear access.
  • Rent and lease dates for each let part.
  • Responsibility for common areas, repairs and any known building issues.

We can discuss these details after the initial enquiry. Please wait until we agree how to supply documents before sending tenant records or other confidential information.

Planning and the current use

A shop and flat should be described separately. In England, planning guidance distinguishes mixed uses from uses that are ancillary to the main activity. The building’s description alone does not establish its planning position.

If a change of use is part of your plans, check the permissions and local restrictions with the council or a planning adviser. Do not assume upper floors or commercial space can be converted.

Enquire about a sale

Enter the property postcode and choose Shop or mixed-use. We’ll discuss the building and your plans, then whether we can help introduce potential buyers. Any work and fees are agreed first.

For property with tenants, our investment guide explains the lease and rent information worth preparing.

Common questions

Can I sell just the shop?

You can enquire about the shop alone. Make clear whether the upper floors are separately owned or excluded from the sale.

Do the flats need to be empty?

You can enquire with tenants in place. Tell us how each part is occupied and ask your solicitor about any tenancy or possession questions.

Does this include selling my shop business?

This service concerns the property. A sale of the trading business needs separate advice.
